Few Golden Age books carry the historical weight of Negro Romance #1. Published by Fawcett in 1950, the title broke ground as one of the earliest mainstream American comic books created specifically for Black readers, featuring African American leads in contemporary romance stories during an era when Black representation in the medium was virtually nonexistent. With only three issues produced at Fawcett before the series ended, surviving copies are exceptionally scarce, and this CGC-certified first issue stands as both a serious collector's piece and an important artifact of comics, publishing, and cultural history.
